Who the B2 Course Is For
B2 — Upper Intermediate | Approximately CLB 7–8
- For upper-intermediate learners preparing to discuss detailed ideas, understand more natural French, and communicate with greater independence. Official CLB-equivalent 7–8 results can unlock significant Express Entry benefits, including up to 62 direct French-related CRS points when French is the second official language.
When French is your second official language
An official CLB-equivalent 7 or 8 in all four abilities provides:
- 12 core second-language CRS points
- 25 additional CRS points if English is CLB 4 or lower, or no English test was taken
- 50 additional CRS points if English is CLB 5 or higher in all four abilities
That creates a direct French-related total of:
- 37 CRS points: 12 core + 25 additional
- 62 CRS points: 12 core + 50 additional
IRCC awards the 25- or 50-point French bonus only when the applicant obtains NCLC 7 or higher in all four French abilities.
When French is your first official language
Official CLB-equivalent results in all four abilities may provide:
- CLB 7: 64 points with an accompanying spouse or 68 without
- CLB 8: 88 points with an accompanying spouse or 92 without
Note: CLB/NCLC references are approximate educational comparisons. Immigration eligibility and scoring depend on official test results, individual circumstances and current government rules. Consult official government information or a licensed professional.
